What We Stand For
These foundational values guide every aspect of our church life and ministry, shaping how we worship, serve, and grow together in Christ.
God's Presence
We believe that the presence of God is the foundation of all we do. We seek to create an atmosphere where God's presence is tangible and where His people can encounter Him in meaningful ways. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and we strive to live in reverent awe of our Creator.
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
— Proverbs 9:10
Examples in Practice:
Glory of God
Our ultimate purpose is to bring glory to God in everything we do. We believe that the church exists to magnify God's name and to reflect His character to the world. Every ministry, every service, and every relationship is designed to point people to the greatness of our God.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.
— 1 Corinthians 10:31
Examples in Practice:
Unity and Divinity
We believe in the unity of the Body of Christ and the divinity of the Holy Trinity. We are committed to maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace while upholding the biblical truth of the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as one God in three persons.
Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.
— Ephesians 4:3
Examples in Practice:
Biblical Authority
We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We are committed to teaching, preaching, and living according to the truth of Scripture, allowing it to guide every aspect of our church life.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.
— 2 Timothy 3:16
Examples in Practice:
The Great Commission
We are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission both locally and globally. This means sharing the Gospel with our neighbors in Houston and supporting missions around the world. We believe in both word and deed evangelism, demonstrating the love of Christ through both proclamation and action.

Examples in Practice:
Social Welfare
We believe that caring for the vulnerable is a fundamental expression of our Christian faith. We are committed to serving the poor, the aged, and those in need, reflecting the heart of Christ who came to serve and to give His life for others. This is not optional but essential to our identity as followers of Jesus.
Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.
— James 1:27
Examples in Practice:
Unity in Diversity
We celebrate the diversity of God's people while maintaining unity in our core beliefs and mission. We believe that our differences in culture, background, and experience make us stronger as a community when we are united in Christ. We strive to be a church where everyone feels welcomed and valued.
There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.
— Galatians 3:28
Examples in Practice:
Personal Relationship with Jesus
We believe that salvation comes through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. This relationship is not just intellectual assent but a living, dynamic connection with our Savior, Lord, and God. We are committed to helping people develop and deepen this relationship through discipleship and spiritual formation.
I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
— John 14:6
Examples in Practice:
Nurture of Children and Youth
We are deeply committed to the spiritual formation of our children and youth. We believe in training up children in the way they should go, providing them with a solid biblical foundation, and creating opportunities for young adults to grow in their faith and leadership. The future of the church depends on investing in the next generation.
Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.
— Proverbs 22:6

Our Vision Statement
To fulfil the 'Great Commission' and advance the mission of Church of Nigeria based on three principles: Christ centered worship, Disciple making, and Church planting and missions.
The vision of Ascension Anglican Church is to fulfil the 'Great Commission' and advance the mission of Church of Nigeria based on three principles: Christ centered worship, Disciple making of which evangelism and biblical teachings are the components, and Church planting and missions in order to reach the unreached (Luke 4: 18-19, Matt 28:19-20).
