Our Core Values

What We Stand For

These foundational values guide every aspect of our church life and ministry, shaping how we worship, serve, and grow together in Christ.

God's Presence

We believe that the presence of God is the foundation of all we do. We seek to create an atmosphere where God's presence is tangible and where His people can encounter Him in meaningful ways. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and we strive to live in reverent awe of our Creator.

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

Proverbs 9:10

Examples in Practice:

Reverent worship services
Prayer and fasting
Holy Spirit-led ministry
Sacred spaces and moments

Glory of God

Our ultimate purpose is to bring glory to God in everything we do. We believe that the church exists to magnify God's name and to reflect His character to the world. Every ministry, every service, and every relationship is designed to point people to the greatness of our God.

So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God.

1 Corinthians 10:31

Examples in Practice:

Worship that magnifies God
Lives that reflect Christ
Ministry that honors God
Testimonies of God's goodness

Unity and Divinity

We believe in the unity of the Body of Christ and the divinity of the Holy Trinity. We are committed to maintaining the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace while upholding the biblical truth of the Trinity - Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as one God in three persons.

Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:3

Examples in Practice:

Interdenominational cooperation
Trinitarian worship
Unity in diversity
Ecumenical relationships

Biblical Authority

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is our final authority in all matters of faith and practice. We are committed to teaching, preaching, and living according to the truth of Scripture, allowing it to guide every aspect of our church life.

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.

2 Timothy 3:16

Examples in Practice:

Expository preaching

We are committed to fulfilling the Great Commission both locally and globally. This means sharing the Gospel with our neighbors in Houston and supporting missions around the world. We believe in both word and deed evangelism, demonstrating the love of Christ through both proclamation and action.

Social Welfare

We believe that caring for the vulnerable is a fundamental expression of our Christian faith. We are committed to serving the poor, the aged, and those in need, reflecting the heart of Christ who came to serve and to give His life for others. This is not optional but essential to our identity as followers of Jesus.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress.

James 1:27

Unity in Diversity

We celebrate the diversity of God's people while maintaining unity in our core beliefs and mission. We believe that our differences in culture, background, and experience make us stronger as a community when we are united in Christ. We strive to be a church where everyone feels welcomed and valued.

The future of the church depends on investing in the next generation.

Our Vision

Advancing God's Kingdom

Our Vision Statement

To fulfil the 'Great Commission' and advance the mission of Church of Nigeria based on three principles: Christ centered worship, Disciple making, and Church planting and missions.

The vision of Ascension Anglican Church is to fulfil the 'Great Commission' and advance the mission of Church of Nigeria based on three principles: Christ centered worship, Disciple making of which evangelism and biblical teachings are the components, and Church planting and missions in order to reach the unreached (Luke 4: 18-19, Matt 28:19-20). Fulfilling the vision begins by viewing our community, county, state, nation and the world as a mission field. Our mission requires collective efforts as a church to reach the local area where we are located (Acts 1:8).

Our Vision Pillars:

Vibrant Worship

Creating an atmosphere where God's presence is tangible and hearts are drawn to Him

Authentic Discipleship

Developing mature followers who can disciple others and impact their communities

Compassionate Service

Reflecting God's love through tangible acts of kindness and care

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, to give you hope and a future.”
Jeremiah 29:11
